Yvonne Bailey’s career has been built on partnership, resilience, and a deep commitment to shared learning. She believes that when people learn together, they perform better, and that strong teams are built on knowledge that is openly exchanged, not held back.
Yvonne joined BBH in 1999 during the lead-up to Y2K, a defining moment for technology and business continuity. Working on core systems that underpinned critical operations, she developed an early appreciation for stability, accountability, and precision. The experience reinforced a lesson that continues to guide her today: technology and people succeed through close collaboration and collective ownership of outcomes.
Throughout her career, Yvonne has contributed to building lasting cross-functional partnerships. Her approach blends curiosity with pragmatism—strengthening systems while also strengthening the people behind them. She focuses not only on delivering dependable, high-performing platforms, but on growing capability within teams so that expertise is shared and sustained.
Her work reflects a simple philosophy: when people grow, systems improve. In fostering collaboration, encouraging continuous learning, and building resilient foundations, Yvonne helps move teams forward—together.
What do you enjoy most about your work—and how do you continue to grow?
What shapes me most is the culture. I work in an environment where collaboration is valued, questions are encouraged, and mistakes are treated as opportunities to learn. That mindset influences how I approach both my work, my development, and how I work with others.
Stepping into new areas and stretching beyond what’s familiar motivates me. Growth comes from being open to challenge—whether it’s taking on the unfamiliar, learning from experienced colleagues, or making the most of available development resources. The support of strong leaders and peers has been instrumental in helping me build confidence and capability over time.
At the heart of it is a simple belief: knowledge isn’t meant to be held close or used as leverage—it’s meant to be shared. When expertise is concentrated with one person, it creates risk and limits progress. When it’s distributed and openly exchanged, teams become stronger, more resilient, and better equipped to move forward together.
What has your experience as a BBH employee been like?
My experience at BBH has been both rewarding and stretching in equal measures. Over the years, I’ve taken on roles that have challenged me to adapt, think differently, and navigate complexity with confidence. Those moments have strengthened my resilience and sharpened my ability to manage change.
As the organisation has evolved, I’ve evolved with it – gaining a broader perspective on how different teams connect and how decisions ripple across the business. That journey has deepened my understanding of where I can add the most value and how to operate effectively in a dynamic environment. I’ve had many positive experiences at BBH, along with challenges that have pushed me—those moments helped me build resilience, better understand my strengths, and learn how to navigate the organization more effectively.
What keeps you at BBH?
It’s the opportunity to make a sustained impact. BBH has allowed me to contribute in ways that extend beyond my day-to-day—whether through mentoring, community initiatives, or supporting colleagues at pivotal moments in their careers.
One of the most meaningful parts of my time with BBH has been the opportunity to connect our work with the wider community. As a member of the Black Affinity Network and through the BBHcares volunteer program, I’ve had the chance to support initiatives that go beyond the office—including volunteering for over a decade with students at a local school in New Jersey. Spending time with them, listening to their ambitions, watching their confidence grow has been very inspiring. Those moments have stayed with me and remain some of my most rewarding experiences.
Ultimately, I stay because the work continues to feel purposeful. I’m grateful that there is space to contribute, to support others, and to be part of something that extends beyond individual achievement.
