BOSTON, October 28, 2026 - Brown Brothers Harriman (BBH) today announced that it is a day-one participant in the newly launched DTCC Tokenization Service (DTS), a voluntary service operated by The Depository Trust Company (DTC), a subsidiary of The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC), the post-trade market infrastructure for the global financial services industry.
The service enables eligible DTC participants to convert select securities entitlements to assets held at DTC between traditional book-entry and tokenized forms, with tokenized security entitlements delivered to a digital wallet registered with DTC on a supported network. Through its participation, BBH, along with its fellow DTC participants in the launch program, is evolving its operating model across custody, network management, operations, risk, and technology.
As tokenization begins to intersect with traditional market infrastructure, participants face practical questions about how tokenized assets should be held, moved, reconciled, and reported, as well as the controls and oversight they require. By participating in the DTCC Tokenization Service from day one, BBH will have a first-hand view of how the service works in practice, which it can bring to its conversations with clients.
Earlier this year, BBH named Parth Gargava as its Head of Digital Asset Strategy. In this role, Parth is leading BBH’s long-term strategy within its Investor Services business: participating in market infrastructure, leading through experience, and partnering with clients to define the servicing requirements for their tokenized funds.
"Tokenization promises new forms of efficiency and new routes to distribution. The industry is moving beyond proofs of concept and what matters now is understanding where in the value chain tokenization affects the servicing of an asset. Tokenization changes the form of the security, but not the fundamental role of a custodian holding and servicing it on behalf of its clients," said Parth Gargava, Head of Digital Asset Strategy at BBH.
“Participating in this initiative from day one helps us build an informed view of both the challenges and opportunities. This milestone reflects close collaboration across BBH’s service, operations and systems teams. That experience will be critical as we continue to expand our capabilities.”
