Through Their Aligned Philanthropic Priorities, BBHCares and UWNYC have been Able to Provide Education and Basic Necessities to Improve the Quality of Life for Residents in New York and New Jersey.

New York, NY – In the Fall of 2014, United Way of New York City (UWNYC) presented Brown Brothers Harriman & Co. (BBH) with a Partnership Recognition Award to honor and thank their employees for their tireless dedication and commitment to serving local communities.

At a ceremony held at BBH’s office in New York City, Sheena Wright, President & CEO of UWNYC, presented BBH’s Managing Partner, Digger Donahue and Partner, Kevin Stone with an award to recognize the lasting and meaningful contributions that BBH has provided to UWNYC; and for their continued and enthusiastic support.

“What an honor it is to have had BBH as a most trusted partner for many years,” said Wright. “It is a rarity these days to have a company of their size and magnitude be in such lock-step with your mission and goals, and we could not be more thrilled that they are. Their philanthropic support and engagement has been incredible and has played an integral part in allowing us to raise the benchmark in how we advocate for and provide resources to the underserved and disenfranchised. The task ahead is indeed a tall one, but UWNYC looks forward to taking on these challenges head-on with the help of our friends at BBH.”

BBH’s philanthropic philosophy and their employees’ willingness to lend their time and talents in our community have solidified the BBH/UWNYC partnership. BBH employees, at every level of the company, have been encouraged and empowered to become involved with UWNYC’s programs and initiatives. This unique 40-year collaboration has strengthened over the years. We have seen a number of BBH employees actively participate in UWNYC’s Young Leaders and Women’s Leadership Councils, in addition to volunteering with our partner organizations. Their involvement helps support other UWNYC achievements including:

Providing 5,000 high school students and their families with more than 50,000 hours of counseling. Giving more than 68 million meals to hungry New Yorkers. Funding 7,000 nights of emergency shelter to women and children in need.

"We are delighted to be recognized by United Way of New York City,” said BBH Partner, Kevin Stone. “It is rewarding to know that the efforts made by our firm help United Way accomplish their mission to improve lives through the power of community. “
