New York, NY, October 23, 2012 – Brown Brothers Harriman & Co. (“BBH”) announced today that it was selected as a winner of the Emerging Leadership Diversity award from the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA).
BBH’s winning entry, “Possibility Thinking”, is a series of lectures for firm leaders designed to broaden their viewpoint on various types of diversity. The lectures feature best-in-class speakers who present thought leadership on contemporary, strategic issues, with a focus on outcomes of diverse perspectives. Selected topics include unconscious bias, cultural differences, and generational experiences.
BBH’s diversity strategy is designed to cultivate an environment that encourages debate and diversity of views. The series has succeeded in demonstrating the value of diversity to innovation in addition to generating discussion and reflection on various diversity topics. Managers are given the opportunity to learn from experts as well as each other, and leave the sessions with new perspectives and a greater understanding of issues related to diversity.
“At BBH, the diversity of our people is one of our greatest strengths. We must continue to attract and retain employees who provide diverse perspectives if we are to improve our service to clients and develop new and innovative products. The BBH Possibility Thinking series helps us create an environment that welcomes a diverse group of employees and encourages everyone to contribute to their fullest potential,” said Digger Donahue, BBH Managing Partner.
