2020 has presented business leaders with myriad obstacles, many of which even the most seasoned leaders have never encountered. For the feature article of this issue, we brought together a group of CEOs in our ecosystem to discuss how they led their businesses throughout the year. This group, which originally participated in a virtual roundtable session hosted by BBH in May, shared insights on leadership lessons learned in 2020, the role of values during periods of disturbance and innovation during crisis. They also discussed how they are preparing to ensure success in 2021.
The topic of leadership through crisis is also covered in another article in this issue by BBH Partner Kathryn George. Kathryn hosted a Q&A with Dr. Kerry Sulkowicz about how leaders can navigate crises, and she shares key insights on the emotional challenges that leaders face when their organization is in crisis. Rounding out this issue is an article by Senior Wealth Planner Kerri Mast, who looks at considerations for private business owners with private foundations. As always, Thomas Martin, Grant Smith and Christine Hourihan provide an overview of the economy, credit markets and private equity and mergers and acquisitions markets in the Business Environment.
