Quote: "I love talking about BBH and how we are truly differentiated. Luckily, my job is to do just that."
What I do: I am part of the business development and relationship management team within Investment Management. Our goal is to seek and develop long-term relationships with informed investors who understand and appreciate our investment approach.
Career Path: I began my career in Corporate Actions in the Investor Services business. Located in Boston, I worked with an intelligent and dedicated team to ensure the settlement, safekeeping and accurate reporting of assets for our clients. After 1 year, I applied to the Firm's Leadership Education And Development (LEAD) program. During this one-year program, I received intensive financial and leadership training and participated in 10-week rotations through our different business lines. One of these rotations exposed me to our Investment Management business, which ultimately led to my current role in New York.
Taking on New Challenges: When I was offered the opportunity to move to New York I was a bit nervous to leave my family, friends, and a job I liked behind. My managers were supportive and encouraged me to take on this new role, while helping me make a smooth transition. I am thankful for their support as it turned out to be a great career decision. I am learning something new every day and enjoying the challenges and opportunities my role entails. On a personal level, living in New York City has been indescribable. From the diverse neighborhoods packed with amazing restaurants to the abundance of museums and cultural institutions, I am constantly out exploring and being exposed to new places and experiences.
Access to Leaders: There is no need for an open door policy at BBH as most of our leaders have no offices. Senior managers lead by example and are entrenched in the day-to-day activity, making interaction with them constant. Being able to observe the hard work, dedication, and humility of the Partners and other senior leaders is inspiring. You begin to feel like an owner yourself. Leaders here take the time to get to know you beyond your role at the Firm. A Partner in Investment Management recently opened up his home to the team for an evening get together. To have that experience outside of the office was something special and enabled me to get to know my colleagues on a more personal level.
