Through a family of private equity funds, BBH has been investing in closely-held private companies since 1989. With roughly $2 billion of capital deployed across a range of industries, as of February 28, 2009, BBH has worked with hundreds of management teams running businesses at critical inflection points in terms of their growth and strategic development. Historically, the capital has been deployed with an emphasis on partnering with management teams and investors looking to leverage the network and resources of an institution that has been around for nearly 200 years.

BBH is currently an active participant in the private equity market through BBH Capital Partners III, L.P., which invests $7 million to $25 in million in lower middle market companies with enterprise values ranging between $20 million and $200 million. We invest any combination of subordinated debt, preferred and/or common equity in either minority (non-control) or majority (control) ownership positions.

Flexible Mandate

The flexibility of our investment mandate is a key differentiator for management teams and co-investors as we can invest in a range of securities including equity, mezzanine, or some combination of the two. Unlike other funds, there is not a set formula for what the equity and mezzanine split needs to be in any given investment, which gives us the ability to customize the best capital structure for each investment.
